Great work. You mentioned that you have TankER9X working on Taranis. Is that available for download?

But first the sound system - to me there was no point putting out a product that did not have CD quality wav file playback, SD card storage and at least 4 voice polyphony. The new sound system delivers this and more with up to 14 voice polyphony.

If the new fad is to 'fuse' board together well Taipan has always been about that from conception. Taipan 2014 fuses the Taipan drive system with a GEKO and MAKO and connections for Remora and Manta. The board below is an initial prototype on which most of the programming is being done.

The next generation of Taipan 2014 boards have already been designed and contain all of the expected release features these are:

- Heavy duty power supply circuitry with reverse polarity protection and fuse protection
- 3 cell LiPo standard
- 60 AMP motor control (total)
- 7 channel control required
- Separate sound/volume control channel (ch6)
- Separate weapons control channel (ch7)
- Dedicated switching control channel (ch5)
- Multiple servo support (elevation, turret & recoil servo)
- Headlight, reverse light, Auxiliary light, cannon high tension flash OR LED support
- 2 Battery voltage or 5 Volts switched supplies (for smoke unit, etc..)
- On board MAKO
- enhanced IR battle options, Unit ID, Friend or foe, shell type select (AP or HE), magazine (World of Tanks simulation)
- Battle field IR programming of most options (no opening tank to change dip switches)
- PLUS all of the new sound card features
- CD quality wav playback
- more polyphony than any current tank control system
- over 250 separate wav samples per tank/model selection
- number of Tanks/models limited by your SD card capacity only.
- World of Tanks simulations

Taipan also integrates with the existing Remora and Manta systems for on screen display of battle stats and an even greater WOT like experience.

And if that is all not enough there is the integration with tanker9X and the FrSky system allowing for
- easy setup of all functions on your 9XR, 9XR Pro or Taranis
- model matching
- telemetry
- sound alarms and alerts

Finally there has been one other big change the Taipan 2014 project is NOT about cutting costs. If you want a cheap board then Taipan will not be an option. Only the best components are going to be used on T2014. As the saying goes 'If you have to ask "How much?" well you know the rest.

Cheers
KG

Good to hear from you

Yeah didn't have enough cash when the Taranus first came out. Will be getting one - have a version of tankER9X for Taranus and already using telemetry.

Have modified SGS Whaler boards for Quadcopter use - so you can shoot up tanks with the Quadcopter.

Hear very little about what MBRCTC are up to - now that footy is over - I can make club days

Cheers

I have been playing with a DJI Phantom quadcopter, one video so far down at Hoya at our last tank meet, very basic TX but it works, but i bought a Taranus TX (upgraded 9X). I have yet to play with it, have you heard of this TX.
Cheers

Yes that is the new delay for Taipan. The Tank telemetry system. Basically it will be Remora on steroids. Remora will eventually send back all the battle info along with battery status, current draw and motor temps. This will be sent back to a Nokia type LCD display rather than the current 16x2 LCD display. The FPV video system will be separate. The 9XR now has a Video screen attachment which will display your video views and the much smaller Nokia LCD will display the telemetry. Sorry no OSD for battery status as yet on the main video screen.

The new board will also look after your LiPo battery by automatically shutting down when your LipO runs low. System will have 3 cell LiPos as default (11.7 V) to provide the voltage required for all of those cheap sound amps you can get on eBay.

Because Tanks rarely travel more than 50 - 100 metres away the system will be on 433mHz so as not to interfere with either your 2.4 gHz radio or your 5.8gHz video system. (Current Remora operation)

I'm really excited about this new system and even looking at adding GPS even though having GPS co-ordinates displayed would be of no real use.

Cheers
KG

and Juno V2?

Been busy with my quad copter these days. Specially FPV! I wonder if can be installed in a tank! Now FPV's has this OSD means you can see your real time status like, remaining batt, GPS, Rssi, alt, distance from home base etc.

Thinking about placing the remora in the OSD for tanks. How's that sound? So, in the battle field
you look into a monitor not at your tank. Just like you are inside the tank. Cool?

Cheers

Sorry but ZERO work on Taipan itself for the past month. Far too much other stuff going on.

Here though is the update on Pantherturm. There is so much on Pantherturm that not even this video covers it all. Not shown in the video are the Machine gun IR hit sounds, repair sounds or the Flak turret mode.

This week saw the arrival of Panzerfaust - an automatic IR soldier and the first prototype of Pirahna - the IR sensor mushroom for Taipan and MAKO4 in general.

Last week a major update to tankER9X was finished and will be made available next week with the release name of 'Arnhem'

The immediate future will see work on a battery monitoring system for Taipan.

Cheers
