First up have you opened up the Taranis and made both gimbals self centering?
There is a screw that you can adjust that will make the gimbals self centering or non centering. It is best to have both sticks self centering.
Second - have you downloaded OpenTX and have you been able to connect your Taranis to your computer?
Third - OPenTX is very very similar to ER9X (tankER9X) of which there is a wealth of info on setups. Practically ALL the setup info for the RCXHL units will be the same as for a 9X with FrSky module running tankER9X.
Fourth - Most difficult you must read the manuals/info for OpenTX
Start by entering RADIO SETUP
Set channel order to RTEA
this is standard for RCTA and Tamiya
Set mode to:
3 - for throttle control on the right stick
OR
2 - for throttle control on the left stick
Create a model
Go to MODEL SETUP
Bind you X8R to that model - Don't know how? Read manuals or watch this video
Turn off throttle warning - at a later date you can adjust the switch warnings
Go to the MIXER and edit as follows

Now when you turn on the radio MAKE SURE all switches are in the neutral position - Look at the big bar graph page.
With RCXHL or RC2TG you connect
channel 1 to input 1
2 to 2
3 to 3
4 to 4
5 to 5
and remove and receiver selection jumpers
TO turn a RCXHL or RC2TG unit on move the SC switch form middle position to up and then back to middle.
SF should fire machine gun and SH the cannon.
Taranis is a complex radio with a lot of options there will be no way around not reading the manual and understanding the mixer functions in particular. I strongly suggest connecting up to a computer and looking at the CompanionTX software.Statistics: Posted by Phyrephish — Thu Apr 23, 2015 1:47 pm
