The reverse light is activated by putting a blob of solder across a solder jumper on the board. Yes you will need a soldering iron but then for 99% of rear light installs you will need one anyway.
Asp has two jumpers depending on your motor setup. Fortunately 90% of setups will require the same jumper to be bridged. The required jumper is shown below

The first ASP shipped will NOT have this jumper bridged - I will be bridging this jumper for future shipments. If you have a tank in the 10% where this is the wrong jumper you will have to remove the solder and put a blob of solder on the solder jumper immediately above.
