Many would say the Challenger II is the best Main Battle Tank in the world today. When I was looking to purchase a 1:6 R/C tank the Challenger II was my first and only choice. At six foot long (including the gun), 23" wide and 95kgs, size mattered. Running on 24v via two 12v leisure batteries and pumping through two large mobility scooter motors with chain final drive she’ll get up to speeds of around 5 to 6 mph with fantastic agility.
She has a Mark-1 tanks onboard sound card with awesome V12 Perkins diesel sounds recorded from the 1:1 tank itself, including the main gun and mg.
Since owning this tank I’ve done many upgrades. I’ve fitted a new speaker system and mount. She now runs an Orion 2 way 6”x9”. I’ve fitted HXT connectors between the ESC and the motors plus replaced all other connectors throughout the tank with T- plugs. I’ve also split the batteries for charging, now charged singularly. She’s fitted with an onboard volt meter to keep an eye on voltages during running. The upper and lower hull is hand laid fibreglass (in Russia) with a great level of detail. She has cast steel road wheels and tracks with rubber inserts. The grip laid down by her tracks is phenomenal. She has an Armorpax high detail commanders sight fitted and light detailing covering the upper and lower hull. Also fitted is a larger gun elevation motor, 360 turret turn and proportionate smoke. This is a fully optioned 1:6 Challenger II by one of the most experienced builders in the world.
She is currently running a user friendly Hitec Optic 6 six channel 2.4 GHz radio system and will come with two new folding alloy ATV ramps to get her in the back of your vehicle. All that’s needed is a 12v charger. The tank also comes with some 1:6 scale gear including a Mag-58 mg, boots, glasses, ration packs and much more. Tank can be viewed at Tyabb Vic.
