It is going to get a generous mud treatment and coupled with the stowage there may not be much camo visible in any case.

The support machines would have been lucky at that stage of the conflict to be given priority on what stock of manufactured or pilfered WW/paint was available...........most are seen in Russia earlier on in a mish-mash of WW, snow & mud camo.

It sucks to you right now mate, with that finish after all this time..................my advice is

Youre on your own !!!!!!!!!!!!

Soon I will post some pics of the unit in the ambush camo. Maybe you guys can help me decide whether or not to throw white wash all over it.

I've grown fond of the way it looks at the moment.

pics soon

All the pictures and reference material now so readily available still leave room for an on the day-at the time style of interpreation.
Its easy to overlook that as AFV's became tactically obscelete, they still had uses in many forms.
I assume the winter look is in the offing ?

I'm beginning to regret painting the outside of the resin box in camo. I was going to leave the real wood box as non camo and paint the resin box in camo which I have done. BUT I think now that the painted resin box looks much better than the real wood.

Pics of the Berg in ambush to follow...

Above the process is at Step 6. Below is after the light sanding which will bring out the detail by exposing the light foundation and grey colours that are underneath.

I used my favourite method of painting wood which I gleaned from some model railroading source. It is quite easy and quick and gives I think nice results.

In a nutshell using the Floquil range of model railroad paints

1. Over a light grey undercoat apply another "undercoat" of Foundation colour and let dry (24hrs)

2. Use either Roof Brown or Railroad Tie Brown (or even mix the two together) and prepare a wash so that it is almost like a stain. Paint/stain a few individual boards with you intial mix.

3. Vary that mix by adding a light grey or a different brown and stain a few more boards

4. Repeat step 3

5. Keep repeating Step 3 until ALL boards are painted.

6. Apply a standard black wash

(The box above is at this step)

7. Get some sand paper and 'rough up' some boards to expose the foundation underneath. If you go too hard then the grey will show which is fine also

8. Choose a wood colour and make up another thin mix - using a spray gun spray the entire piece to help with blending in all the colours.

It wouldn't be a PzIII without a rack of some sort on the back. Because of the crane a small rack right towards the back of the hull would be most appropriate.

I designed the rack specifically for the snug fit of extra jerry cans.

I think the upper hull is ready for painting. The tools I will add afterwards.

If you were aware of the amount of fake user messages generated by advertising bots you'd understand. Without it you wouldn't even find your posts buried in a midst of off-topic posts advertising everything from Viagra to trips to the Bahamas. Once you post twice you are verified as a real human being not a bot and posts will appear right away.

But back to the Berge. There are so few pics of actual vehicles that I am not representing one in particular. Using available info the model is a "a what would of been". With the JUWA kit I am going for what would of been if a late model PzIII chassis (Ausf N or higher) was converted over to a Bergepazer role. What could of been in use during the last snowfalls of the 44/45 winter

The 2nd Berge with the real wood box will be on a Ausf J chassis. Fall or early winter of 44.

The bergepanzer is I think a great subject of a bit of artistic freedom given their roles and that their mission might be at a particular time (repair, recovery re-supply....)
