Since they aren't much bigger than an asp board, maybe we can see the future with these mini pcs? Just wondering your thoughts.

Although they are the same size as the Asp most of the surface area of Tank control boards is populated with connectors and the chips to drive the motors.
For 1/16 probably the size is a factor BUT for 1/6 then definately.
However and most important you need to remember the old adage " You are only as strong as your weakest link". Imagine trying to control all that is possible with the Pi and using a super cheap 6 ch radio. Lots of people will want to do this.
Most new controllers (not just Asp) could really do with 12-16 channel control. The thought of introducing S-Bus the the general tank community is just not economically viable in the near future.
