Hello,
well, according to a proposal from Kevin G, I opened this thread about the USM-HL soundmodule from Beier Electronics, especially its set upt with the RC5HL-module. Ok, let´s get to the point. Wiring of the USM-HL module: The wiring ist very easy: just put the cable from the USM-HL (I my case its green, blue, yellow) into the RC5HL module. The cable from the RX18 is put in the USM-HL. With other words: The USM-HL is set between the RC5HL and the RX 18. (Receiver=>RC5HL=>USM-HL=>RX18). Testing: This part is more tricky as I think. If everything is wired: switch on the tank (main switch). Now the LED´s of the RC5HL should start blinking as used. The following is important: After some seconds, when RC5HL has done the calibartion, it should blink as used and the red LED of the USM-HL should blink also. The frequenzy of this red LED on the USM-Hl will be a litte slower. The green LED at the USM-HL should be solid. In this state the USM-HL should gets the signals from the RC5HL. As the USM-Hl offers the possiblity the play sounds in the state "tank off", you should be able to switch on a sound according to your programming of the USM-HL. Know it is getting a little bit complicated. Switching on the tank (RX18) and the USM-HL: At first I have to admit, that following statements base on experience and not scientific testing. Switching on the tank and the USM-Hl is controlled, as ever by -100% on channel 5. I made the following observations: The USM-HL starts only after longer period (1 - 2s) Adding / Mixing whit -19 % on channel 4 (turret movement) improves switching on the USM-HL (round about 70% better, estimated) Following states can appear: Tank (RX18): on / USM-HL: on : This is what we want Tank (RX18): off / USM-HL: on (Sounds are delivered, but no moving of the tank) Tank (XR18): on / USM-Hl: off (no Sounds, but tank is moving)
Same states after trying to switch of the tank.
In case Tank: off / USM-HL: on: again switch channel 5 to -100% ("short") and wait (RX18), so that the RX18 can start. In case Tank on / USM-HL: off: switch channel 5 to -100% a little longer, try to improve by adding -19% to channel 4.
Reason for this, is that the signal form the RC5HL can pass thru the USM-HL, even if the USM-HL is not triggerd by the start signal.
So far at the moment. If you have question, just ask, but please don´t be angry, if it took me some time to answer. Some weekends, as this, I don´t have web access.
Kind regards
Christian

Hi Christian
Thanks for the info. I'm sure that if we actually had a Beier module here Andrew the 'Wonderboy' could iron out things so that the combination ran more smoothly.
Cheers Kevin G
