ElMod High Tension Flash Connector
elmod_eco_a.jpg
According the ElMod manuals connectors 7 & 8 are used to connect up the Asiatam/Heng Long High Tension Flash Units. At first glance how hard can that be? Well as soon as you go to do it you will notice that the 2-pin connector of the flash unit is male and so is Connector 8. Same sex unions just don't work in the world of electronics. What to do here? Will it be ok to replace the connector with a female one? If I get it wrong will I blow up my expensive ELMod board?
If you do replace the connector with a female one it will be fine and your board should not blow up. However, you need not bother as the flash will work just fine with only the 5-pin connector attached to Connector 7.
Cheers

Ignore the 2 pin connector. It works just fine without being connected to anything. I think that connector is used for the "fire" of the IR LED. I have tried it in my tiger with an ECO board and the flash works the way it should.

Hi Nyleatherneck
Ok so my first post is a little vebose. The last sentence of the first post is the important one.
But you have raised an interesting point - what then of the 2-pin connector? Moreover what other function can the 2 pin connector be assigned to other than what it is intended for? I'm not sure it does the IR signal but geez I hope you are right.
When I get back from hols I'll have to dig out my old EL Mod boards and have a look.
Cheers Kevin G
