Ok great there could also be one more thing to try. It is possible that the IR emitter could be attached the wrong way around. Swap around the red and black wires. It is easy to remove the wires by gently lifting the plastic retaining tab and pulling out the wires. If this doesn't work I'll have to get back to you.
Cos I am in the US the internet server is not letting me access my Australian accounts for my electronics suppliers so I can not tell you the modle number of the IR emitter I use. However, any 5mm IR emitter will be fine the higher the intensity the better.
I can send you a replacement if necessary upon return to Australia.
