IMPORTANT KOMODO+ FIX

It has come to my attention that a few users have been seeing issues with the new Komodo+ board. After some investigation we have found the problem. Fortunately it is a simple and cheap fix. All that is required is a 5 cent 1K or 2K resistor that goes into the signal line.

The Komodo+ is malfunctioning because the MFUs (Taigen & Heng Long) are sending too much current down the signal line when the motors are running. So to fix this a 1K to 2K resistor is put in the signal wire to limit the current going to the Komodo. When this is done Komodo will work as it should.

This ONLY affects the new Komodo+ boards which use the + signal on the Flash port to trigger the anti-recoil process.

As this is a design fault on my part I am happy to send out new Komodo+ leads with an appropriate resistor added. All Komodo+ buyers prior to 28th January should contact me via the webstore.

If you do not wish to wait for a new lead below are instructions on how to fix the issue.

STEP 1
You will require:
your Komodo+ lead
a resistor of between 1K to 2.2K (size or watts doesn't matter)
a small piece of shrink tube


STEP 2
Cut the white (or yellow) signal wire a few cms from the end


STEP 3
Strip the ends of the signal wire and trim the leads of the resistor. Now you will be soldering next so 'tin' the ends of the wire and leads.


STEP 4
Solder the resistor in place. No resistors do not have polarity any way round will be fine.


STEP 5
Slide shrink tube into place and use heat to shrink the tube.


STEP 6
Re-insert wires into the 5 pin plug as shown below


FIX COMPLETE

OTHER IMPORTANT NOTE

MAKO2 will NOT offer anti-track recoil blocking with the new Heng Long 2.4 gHz control boards. This is because Heng Long have changed the timings on these boards such that the recoil is initiated BEFORE the IR signal is activated. As such there is no way now of receiving a '-' signal that the recoil is about to take place. Since MAKO is not good enough to look into the future if you purchase a 2.4 gHz Heng Long system then you will be stuck with the track recoil unless you also get a Komodo'+'.

For the technically inquisitive. Mako2 and earlier Dragon/Komodo use the '-' of the IR signal to trigger the recoil blocking process. The good old RX18 activated the IR signal BEFORE starting the track recoil and hence MAKO was able to immediately cut the motor supply and hence block the recoil. With the new 2.4gHz Heng Long MFUs the IR signal is now activated AFTER the recoil and hence the supply to the motors is cut AFTER the recoil takes place.

ALL OTHER IR BATTLE FEATURES OF MAKO2 still work 100% INCLUDING BLOCKING OF THE HIT SHUDDERS AND DEATH SPASM
