UPDATE 25-MAY-2012
Only 7 months till Christmas...
So I'll take the time to update everyone on the status of current projects. Sorry lots of writing and no pics.
MAKO:
The new Bergepanzer function is ready for testing and test boards will be out to product testers very very soon. There will also be test boards available at the MBRCTC display at Morooka School Fete this Saturday.
The Bergepanzer or Repair function has been developed in conjuction with the guys responsible for the IBU and uses the same IR signal. In a nutshell, battle damaged tanks can retreat to a Bergepanzer or Repair station once there a repair 'shot' is fired at the tank. The tank then undergoes reapir and is unable to move for a period determined by the tanks weight class. The repair enables all the damage of the last IR hit to be 'repaired'. A maximum of 5 repairs are allowed per tank (otherwise a battle could last forever). Repair time for any tank can be decreased if the Bergepanzer remains with the damaged tank and is able to fire a second repair shot at the tank when the tank reaches 'Ready to Release' mode.
During repair both the damaged tank and Bergepanzer are susceptible to attack so every effort should be made to carry out repair in a safe, protected position.
Because of the need to reduce the range of the repair IR signal the MAKO board needs a redesign. So for the present MAKO boards for Bergepanzers or repair stations will need to be ordered specifically.
Along with the repair function the MAKO boards will also now support a Light Class option. This class will feature a 3 second reload time and only have 3 lives.
To accommodate all these new features the IR programming mode has been enhanced. To program the upcoming V2 MAKO a SONY TV IR remote will be required. Any universal remote will/should work if the TV code is set to '001'. Further, programmed settings are now stored in the MAKOs onboard Eeprom.
MAMBA:
As you may appreciate the new Bergepanzer function significantly impacts the MAMBA project. The MAMBA will need to wait for the Bergepanzer function to be fully tested before further work can continue. However, the project is still on track for end of June.
RC2HL:
All the renewed interest in the RC2HL has prompted some further development in the software. The issue with receiver incompatibility is very high on the 'to do' list. But more can be done and will be.... New features on the table for the RC2HL include some user selectable 'momentum' settings for those of you without the wondrous tankER9X and at least two switches that are operated by moving the left stick fully left or fully right. Again these new features will require a redesign of the RC2HL board and the extra components will unfortunately mean a slight cost increase.
NEW BOARDS:
The past week has seen a number of new boards produced. I've already gone on too long so I'll briefly mention two of them.
FLASH:
As the name suggests a little LED Flash circuit. Perfect for 3 or 5 mm LEDS down your gun barrel. The board connects to the supply for the airsoft/recoil motor and will flash an LED for 0.1 of a second. Typically, the two wires needed to connect Flash will need to be soldered in place.
SHROOM:
Shroom is a series of two connecting circular PCBs that will fit inside the Pz III or IV cupola and provide support for the Heng Long IR receiver (mushroom). Around the base of the Shroom are 4 high intensity red LEDs to provide hit and status indication. Shroom is for advanced modellers who want a nice elegant way of attaching the IR sensor to the Pz III or IV.

Is the Mamba still on track for the end of this month?
What will be the cost of the Mamba?
Thanks, ~ Craig ~

Hi Craig
Hopefully prototype MAMBA boards will be out later next month. Unfortunately the MAMBA will be the most expensive board in the range.
But it should be less than $50
Cheers KEvin G
