i was out and about and found two Heng Long IR Sensor Tower at a sale so now i own them.I'm trying to put them on my tanks and i don't know what is the best ir led it would be to use. plus if there is any thing that i might need to got. it for the kids and me to mess around with. 850nm or 940nm led or is there something else. i tried to looking online found 850nm led then i seen this here

Any IR LED between 850 and 950 nm will be fine. Other factors to take into account include intensity (how bright/powerful the emitter is) and the Angle of half intensity (how narrow the IR beam is). These specs will be included on the emitters datasheet. In general get as strong as you can with as narrow a beam as you can.
