I used the same trick but I always put the fuzzy part inside the tank and the hook part on the piece that's going into it. If I always do it the same way it helps the hippie brain to cope.

Forgive the intrusion of a newcomer but this has made my Tank operating easier, When I get a new Tank in common with everybody else I open it up to make sure all is well and then I take out the plastic floor and glue a cut to size sheet of "VELCRO" to the floor, then everything else such as the control board, smoker, battery and the receiver gets the female to the male of the floor "VELCRO", Now everything is nice and secure but if I need to remove anything it is easy and won't damage anything else in the hull, I also while on E-BAY getting the "VELCRO" buy an 8 pin/socket extension cable that fits between the Control board and the Body 8 pin plug. this lets me open the Tank and still run all the services.
