I have been developing a 9 speed all metal manual transmission for rc prime movers.
It was designed to replace the plastic 3 speed used in Tamiya tractor trucks but it could be adapted to other uses.
It is powered by a RS540 or RS555 motor, has steel and bronze gears, steel synchronizers, a aluminium case and 20 ball bearings..
Would there be a use for it in the RC tank field..?
Please give me your thoughts / opinions.........

Amazing 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
Welcome to the forum Aero 9000

Just an amazing gearbox
I think you could design gear boxes for tanks, currently most are too fast, even the 3/1 g/boxes can take of with heaps of momentum
WW II tanks are mainly slow beasts, top speeds would only have been on decent roads
Cross country, tanks would only have mainly moved slowly and that's where I think we need very slow gear boxes

Cheers
Gra :)

Thankyou for welcoming me to the forum.

I have a interest in tanks as well as trucks although i dont have a tank at this time. I do find that transmissions in many models to be lacking somewhat and can do with some modification to get reliability and some realistic performance. That was what i tried to achieve with the 9 speed.
The 9 speed may be good in half tracks.....??

Hi everyone,
If anyone has a tank gearbox they are not happy with please post some pictures of it and describe it's problems. I would be interested in producing a tank transmission if it would be a popular item. Also if anyone has a idea for their "dream gearbox" please post some ideas too ! :)

The web address escapes me for the moment. But there is detailed information an gear layout of the tiger tank transmission and final drive. I wonder how small a unit would be possible as the larger the tank you may start getting some quires about barrel length and the messy legal situation on immiation weapons from the the mob in blue.
