Hi guys,

I'm from New Zealand and I'm 16 years old. I have recently started a project which is much like the Ripsaw tank that Howe and Howe Tech designed. It is 900mm long and I am running it with two separate motors for each track. I was wondering if anyone knew how to set up the two servos that would push the throttles so that they could be manipulated to be used with a pistol grip controller? e.g pulling the 'throttle' on the controller would open both motors and turning the wheel would make one slow down to turn the tank in the direction the wheel is pulled.

Hi Lachlan

What you want to do is quite simple. In airplane terms what you are want is to set up a 'V-Tail' mix using Rudder (Steering - CH1) and Throttle (Ch2) instead of elevator and aileron as you would with a plane.

However, most pistol grip controllers do not allow you to do such mixes. If yours does then great. Google 'V-tail' mix to find out what to do.

Without this mixing ability on your controller you would need then to look at setting up a dual motor/servo control circuit. If you are using servos as you say then you could try any of these V-tail mixers. BUT note they only work for servos and not ESCs
