Hi Michael Bummer, if you are getting power to the RX and the lights are flashing, thinking it might be the TK board (small one withe the crystal) or the button on the TX sometimes plays up not connecting when you push on it to start the tank.... Gra

Regarding the button on the TX not starting it...when it broke, I was driving it. After that it wouldn't start. Do the lights flashing mean it is necessarily getting power to the RX? Having said that, I guess the light switch is in the RX... I might have to get my hammer out

Ok. I decided to get another receiver card (the one with the crystal on it and attached to the antenna). I also bought another transmitter. The logic behind this was these two items were the only ones not yet replaced in an effort to find the problem. New transmitter, new receiver card, new crystals, new RX board. It still didn't work. I unscrewed the antenna and tried holding the wire on to the antenna on the outside. Still no joy. So I put the lead back and suddenly the thing starting making a noise. After that it started. So I backed tracked an put all the original components back in and it still started. So, I'm none the wiser but I have a lot of spare parts! Michael

Thanks 'bear.
A bit frustrating not knowing what the problem was. I started wondering if I wasn't turning it on properly, but now I'm thinking that perhaps the antenna wasn't making good contact and me taking it off and back on accidentally 'fixed' it.
Very quiet in here; I guess Christmas is on everyone's mind at the moment.

Good to see the Tiger is running again, now you need it to let it breed and get an other tank Cheers Gra

Hi Graham and all.
I finished putting the Tiger back together yesterday after dithering for a while. I had to drill the sprockets out for the larger screws for the 4:1 gearboxes, but it went back together fine with a bit of a fiddle.
The change is noticable straight away. The Tiger drives quite nicely and not as fast.
Checking over the original zinc metal boxes that came out, I found that one of the gears on the output shaft had stripped a tooth.
Next thing to look at I guess is the RC system. The Turnigy's seem the way to go, although they seem to be in short supply.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas.
Cheers,
Michael
