Post subject: | How I'm Spending These Holidays |
Hey All A quick note to say Happy Holidays to all RCTA members and customers and to let you know what should be available early in 2014. These holidays I'm spending a bit of time not on new boards but rather the IR Battle system in general. To be more precise adding a means of identifying individual tank/battle units. I have completed a working system whereby tanks can be given their own 3 digit number and this number is encoded into the IR signal that they emit. So what does giving a tank it's own ID number mean? Well most importantly it will allow for a system whereby you will be able to tell who shot who in IR battle. Once this is known results for tank battles like, most kills, most accurate tank, can be determined. It also opens up the possibility for 'friend or foe' recognition. In order to implement this system I have had to remove the WSN IR signal from the RCTA code. This means that as of 2014, RCTA units will no longer support IR battle with WSN equipped tanks. The ability to give an ID number which I'll probably refer to in future as a 'BUTIN' Battle Unit Tactical Identification Number is in beta and functional on: MAKO2 MAKO4 and Panzerfaust To give your unit its own BUTIN the usual programming procedure is employed. At startup press 'MENU' on your SONY TV remote then key in your 3 digit number using the button on the remote. Now it's all good to have a BUTIN but it is of no use unless you and others know about it. This means an update to the REMORA/MANTA wireless data link. ID numbers are now displayed on System Info requests and once hit REMORA transmits the ID number of the unit responsible for shooting you back to the MANTA LCD. Since this process put REMORA back on the workshop bench I have added basic Telemetry to REMORA making the unit even more functional. Hence along with IR battle data, REMORA will also transmit your LiPo battery levels. 2 and 3 cell LiPos are supported with warnings for low cell levels or no connection. Thanks for hanging in there to read this post. I know it's boring without pics and video. Some demos will be coming - promise. Happy Holidays Kevin G |
