Does anyone have an opinion on either the HL Sherman or the Mato 2.4ghz one?

Having not seen either in the flesh I would like to know how well they look and how easy it would be to convert to IR .

Thanks in advance

Hi FlynnOz
Good question, one that I'm thinking of as well.
I have seen the Mato Sherman in the flesh but not the HL, bit hard for me to describe as I know nothing of the Sherman tanks and various versions they had.
The Mato was beside the Tamy Sherman and the Mato turret seemed much larger, not sure if its how it's should be or a larger turret for the BB unit???
Comparing pics of both the Mato and HL they seem to have different turrets
I have heard the HL is a better model than the Mato on other forums, but the Mato has a better suspension setup?
I think they both only come with BB, but should be easy to convert to recoil and IR as Any other HL tank is.

Not much help sorry
Gra :)

Thanks for that Gra,

I like the look of the HL that I have seen online better than the Mato. (both at tank army) The 2.4ghz setup on the Mato sounds like it is more "advanced'.

Have you done a conversion from BB to IR? How hard is it to do. I am thinking of upgrading my Tiger to IR but it will take a while as it is one of the old non ss ones. I don't know if it is worth the effort or should I just get a more "modern" one and work from that.

Many thanks for the info and pics Diverfrost,
I can Certainly see the difference now ... :?

Hi FlynnOz
Yep it's easy to convert to IR, just need a new elect's, Taigen recoil unit or servo's (I don't know much about servos), new metal barrel and gun mantlet.... How bigs your wallet :D

Keep your existing tank saves spending money on another (unless u want to upgrade to a Tamyia, not sure $ but would be approx $800 without upgrades)

I use El Mod elect's, good sound, proportional drive control and can add IR to it, though a bit pricey. There are other boards like Clark but I haven't used them have heard good and bad but they are cheaper have IR and servo control. Then u can get HL RX 18 board cheap but not IR compatible with other systems so u buy add ons from RCTA to IR make compatible with Tamyia, El Mod and Clark (there are other boards as well but I have no experience with them ). RCTA is bringing out the Taipan but it's still in development stage ATM.

The Taigen recoil unit is good for the price and also has elevation, it's made for the Tiger 1, you can get all these parts from TankArmy and El Mod from Ozamour.

What other upgrades do you want to do like metal tracks and gearboxes??
You don't have to do every upgrade at the one time, it's taken me years to upgrade my Tiger lol

Check out the forums about the various elect's and mods
Any way hope this helps, don't hesitate to ask any questions (Kevin can fill u in on RCTA upgrades)

Cheers
Gra :D

I should say u don't have to have recoil, can just upgrade with IR, but I like recoil looks cool.
The Heng Long recoil unit is cheap but it works the opposite way round... Slow back and fast forward
