Hi All,
Well I am new to the forum and new to everything tanking and R/C in general. The other day I was given an Heng Ling Tiger 1 tank from a friend of mine, which was given to him by another friend who said it had problems and didn't work.
It had been sitting in the spare room for a couple of weeks so I decided I would take it to work and power it up with the work bench power supplies. As it didn't come with any batteries. Anyway after powering it up and following the procedure of powering the transmitter and then the tank, the lights on the tank started blinking. I tired to start the tank with the transmitter and got nothing no response from the tank. So a quick google search got me onto a few forums.
Before pulling apart the tank I figured that I would check the crystals and see if they were mounted properly. Low and behold I found that the crystals were incorrectly placed the one labeled RX was in the transmitter and the TX was in the reciever. I swapped them around and it fired up first go.
Seeing as though I have got this tank for free, I am looking at upgrading from the 27Mhz to 2.4Ghz (have seen the RCto HL boards) and probably get some metal peieces for it mainly gearbox, drive wheels and track.
As this is my first ever R/C, I think the bug has biten. There is so much to learn and do. I can see why you all get into it.
Cheers, stolzie

Hi stolzie Welcome to the forum mate and the world of Rc tanks You will start with one tank then they will breed like rabbits and end up with 6 or 7 Good it was an easy fix, the tiger is a good tank as there are so many upgrades you can get for it. Where are you from?? Don't hesitate to ask any question if you need any info Cheers Gra

Thanks for the link, will definately check it out. I checked out Gra's build on another forum and might go down a similar track to him. Tossing up between doing the rctohl or just go straight to El-mod. Too many decisions. Thanks for the welcome and will probably start on a build thread soon. Cheers, Stolzie
