Hey Atom
If each crystal is at a unique frequency then yes you could theoretically use all 8 at the same time. You wil need to look at and write down the freq. for each of your crystals.
With a 2.4 gHz sytem you could either operate all 8 at the same time using 8 radios or operate all 8 individually from just the one radio. 2.4 systems do not use crystals in the same manner as 27 mHz systems.
A proper 2.4 programmable system like with the 9X would allow you to: Set maximum speeds for each individual tank Simulate momentum for each tank Turn on/off your tank's headlight Mod a cheap servo to gain proportional control of turret rotation Use a servo to have a more realistic recoil cannon action..... and the list goes on....
Cheers

That is good advice Phy'ish,
we're wanting to build detailed AFV's, we like detail and precision , but with the capacity to have a full scale battle. This includes:
-mines (they'll smoke not explode!) -troops (forces of valor figures) they're cheap, but will probably be damaged. We're looking at fitting them with small radio gear to function some how - like have a small working Panzerfaust or bazooka (one shot only).
...so the 2.4mhz may come in handy, the system sounds versatile, will have to do some research.
I can't have these tanks just going back and forth - there's gotta be something dynamic going on here...strategy, tactics and luck.
I've got the forces of valor figures coming from the UK...you don't know of any here in Australia?
cheers

HI Atom
The boards we are making and developing at RCTA all fit into what you are wanting to do. Especially the desire to add some form of tactics to battle.
The MAKO/RcTABU system is already down the track you want. You can have light, medium, heavy and super heavy tank modes Along with repair tanks
Just this week Andrew finished a prototype for a 'Pantherturm' or fixed gun emplacement control system which has been on and off the drawing board for a year.
Panzerfaust soldiers can be done using a modified Whaler boards (the Waler is the MAKO for the SGS controllers)
Mines need to be simulated in that rather than running over something buried in the ground the tanks instead cross an IR beam
All of these items need to be controlled by your usual 2.4 gHz hobby grade radio/receivers. With so many items it is not possible using the standard Heng long crytal setup
Cheers Kevn G

Thanks guys I am very new to all this and this thread is very informative, which is why I signed on of course I have learned a good deal about what you need for progressive speed etc which was one of my questions, already answered before I asked it! Great forum.
