So there is a bunch of 12ch remote systems on Ebay for a fair prices. General specifications are: 12 channel receiver :
Radio frequency: 315MHz Operating Voltage : 12VDC Decode: Learning Code Operating Type : Momentary/Toggle/Latch selectable Relay : 10A 120VAC, 20A/14VDC Size : 98mm x 80mm x 27mm
12 channel Transmitter :
Radio frequency : 315 MHz Operating Voltage : 23A 12VDC Battery Decode : Fixed code, Soldering Transmitting Distance : 800m
Mode:
Momentary: Press->ON, Release->OFF Toggle: Press->ON, Press again->OFF Latch: Press->ON, Press other->OFF
Kit Include: 1 x Transmitter 1 x Receiver

Now, there are a few problems: operating voltage is 12V (I don´t have any of these systems, but somehow I have this feeling that it could work on less voltage) battery that can be used for this is about 515gr(12v ni-mh 3800mAh), making tanks very heavy reciever unit is big, and won´t fit smaller tanks additional transmitter and batteries
But, you do get 12ch system to use for lights/extra sound units/extra movments etc.
So, what do you all think about this? Is it worth looking at or is it just a step in wrong direction?

I think uses of such a device would be limited only by your imagination. Fixed gun emplacements, triggering smoke, explosions, sounds, lighting, sentry gates...... I'll have to look at exactly how cheap they are on eBay. Cheers
Update: I managd to find a pic of the circuit board and the installed relays are 12v so I'm not sure lower voltages would work

Well, they are 12V, but all relay can work on lower voltage (for example I have one 5V working on 3V) but problem is that they work in on/ off intervals (they can´t keep electro-magnetic field from coil too much). Prices are around 20 US$... http://cgi.ebay.com/12CH-Multifunction- ... 4154382752
