How to bind your X8R receiver in D16 mode to your XJT module. This method sets up your X8R in Mode 5 (D16) channels 1-8 with telemetry. Setting the RX Number will bind that particular receiver to that particular model (model matching).

Hi Kevin,
Me again. I don't get the bind option in my menu. Using ersky9x_Rom_R204 firmware so guess that is the issue, wasn't fussed to change to tank firmware as won't use controller on tanks.
If I change firmware will my model sets still work okay, just need radio calibration?
And where's firmware for 9XR Pro as I can't find it.
Cheers
Ian.

Just it make it clear for everyone. tanker IS the stock firmware with ONLY the templates changed and some names. In the case of the Pro the stock firmware that comes with the radio is very OLD and should be updated right away. The tanker Pro version is an update from the release firmware and does have full and proper FrSky integration. However, any update from the stock firmware will also have the proper integration.
If you install eePskye then each time you start eePskye it will look for the latest firmware version automatically for you. Or you can go - HELP -> Check for updates
Here is the latest file I have downloaded on the 13th Nov ersky9xr_rom_13Nov15.zip
Unzip - place in firmware folder on sd card Press the 2 inner most horizontal trim buttons while turning on radio Radio will start in bootloader mode Select the updated firmware - MENU MENU Restart
I'm fairly sure that all your models will be ok - BUT then to be really sure you can always back them up. Select each model then choose BACKUP from the menu. Your model files will be written as .eepm files in a folder called "models" on your SD Card. IF anything does go wrong you use RESTORE to bring them back.
Also you can do a full backup of the radio using eepskye
Yes a re- calibration always to be sure
Cheers KG

Hi Kevin,
Backed up the radio to the computer then did the firmware update (much easier than the 9X) and the models still there.
Got all the receivers bind up no problem with the firmware corrected. Tomorrow will get the receivers installed in the models.
Thanks again Kevin.
Ian.

You guys may be familiar with the issue of the x8r purchased in the UK. My x8r was supplied with EU firmware and would not bind with the Turnigy supplied by Kevin. Simple solution. Get the x8r flashed to International firmware to match the Turnigy. Beyond my capabilities but the Droneshop in the UK carries out flashing of the x8r (and the xjt module if you want.) This link should explain. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AnDTJ0bwG2E

Thanks for the update Tanku. I did a bit of research myself and the process is actually very easy and the biggest surprise I got was that the the FTDI configuration to update the FrSky products over S-port is EXACTLY the same as the RCTA config (inverted RX/TX). You do need make up a custom cable which is quite easy to do. Hard part is getting the correct FTDI settings (more on that topic later). Open the FrSky Update tool select the port that your RCTA programmer is on and away you go.
Secondly the 9XR Pro running ersky9x comes with "Maintenance Mode" which is enabled when you hold both horizontal trims AWAY from the centre while powering on. If you place the update firmware in the firmware folder on the SD card you can connect your custom cable to the radio and update using the radio.
Like the droneshop if you are still unsure of how to make up the cable - just ask and I can make on for you. I may even include such an option of on the RCTA update boards I am working on.
Cheers KG

Looks like FrSky have got onto this EU firmware issue with the release of this unit http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... apter.htmlI will be ordering one to take apart . I suspect that with a little mod it could also be used to update RCTA units. All that would be required is to separate the TX and RX signals. Cheers KG
